Let’s all grow fat and be happy. You agree or disagree.
The aim of this report is not only to present Obesity as one of the
most dangerous epidemic diseases of the last century, but also, as the
most tempting and deceitful one.
Being fit or being fat.
According to The World Health Organization, five hundred millions of
people, all over the world, are suffering from it. Most of them will
eventually die since this is one of the deadliest illnesses of all
times. Besides the fact Obesity affects on all the major organs, as
the heart, it affects on self –esteem as well. As a matter of fact,
what people see everyday everywhere are pictures of skinny female and
male models wearing expensive clothes, perfumes and expensive gadget,
as if being skinny was the key to success. This situation leads to the
other side of the problem ‘the eating disorders topic’ which is a sort
of extreme response to obesity. Here people choose dying of self –
starvation in order to get thin. At the same time, getting fat may be
the result of feeling anxious and frustrated by not looking like the
models in the images.
Junk food world.
Despite this negative message, people are growing fatter and fatter as
time goes by. It looks like ‘the more they eat, the happier they get’.
This irresponsible behavior is occurring in adults and children at a
time and society has something to say about it. Next to the pictures
mentioned before, tons and tons of junk food images can also be found.
The message is: if someone is hungry, then someone has to get a real
meal; that is to say, the Super Mac, or the newest cheese burger and
fries on demand. In addition to that, people seem to enjoy eating
this kind of greasy food with no worries or regrets. Actually, they
eat it many times a week.
Conclusion
In conclusion, growing fat does not make people any happy. Perhaps
they feel good while they are eating. Nevertheless, when they are
standing in front of a mirror looking at what they have become or when
they are in a hospital bed feeling their hearts are trying to get
away, they realized what they have done with their lives and what they
could have done to change such a pitiful fate. I think we are still
on time to change the way in which we eat and live.
